![]() Tl dr unless my first sentence applies? none of this should keep you up at night, go run ORB or whatever makes you happy and don’t worry about learning the ins and outs of your class unless you genuinely want to git gud Inb4 “not everyone is the same, what’s easy for you might be impossible for someone else!” for a second, completely disregard everything except raw game mechanics… these standards are not unrealistic or some elitist delusion. I can’t think of a better way to phrase it, but there are naturally going to be things you can do with your (class) kit that have a better outcome than not doing them, or doing something else entirelyĪs a result of this, there are obviously going to be standards for what is considered skilful or good gameplay because some things simply are not challenging Only going to reference aionvohiyo-fan/choppi’s cleric related posts/rants because i’m not really sure what else you’d actually be referring to, anyway: If you are just a casual player who maybe PvPs but isn’t serious about it and just ‘plays for fun’ (lol) then continue about your business as it does not, or should not, affect you The way i see it is if you’re not a serious or competitive PvPer, those posts should maybe be taken with a grain of salt. it’s just weird to me that people inevitably build a structure of elitism upon something that doesn’t necessitate it so they can dedicate a lot of resources to improving within the metaendgame without technically becoming better at the actual game they signed up for in any material way, and that’s just as bad as the toxic environment it creates imo? a player may be good by the game’s practical definition, but not live up to the standards of people engaged in the metaendgame, and it creates a lot of unnecessary tension and bitterness. like, for a game, the measure of being good would be whether or not you can clear the biggest baddest dungeon of the most recent update, but players inevitably build their own set of meta rules for being good at the game and while they affect all classes, the threshold is usually highest for the healer who needs to be able not only to keep their party alive through anything, including by employing techniques that border on exploit of game mechanics, but also often to contribute damage, lest they are considered dead weight and sub par. I’ve been seeing some posts on my dashboard the past few days which made me think a bit about metaendgame in multiplayers and its importance and effects on people especially the people who play the respective multiplayer’s healer class and i’m not… really… digging it, tbqh.
